Standard
Tools
Non variable temperature. The standard soldering tool does not have provision for varying the thermal capacity or tip temperature - but in all other respects it retains the same design characteristics as the more sophisticated models. It is completely adequate for the occasional general soldering of point -to-point wiring, terminals, repair and servicing, auto electrical work, toys, hobbies, and even on Printed Circuit work where components are not sensitive to temperature, and where long soldering sequences or heavy terminations are not involved. It
idles at the correct temperature for printed circuit work and has the
same range of tips.
Duotemp Models Push button thermal control. The duotemp is by far the best general purpose soldering tool for non-critical soldering applications. It is designed to idle on haft wave current at the correct temperature for printed circuit work : always ready. If heavy termination or long sequences of joints are involved, the heat absorbed by the termination lowers the tip temperature. On conventional tools, no provision is made for this , except to ‘idle’ the tool at an excessively high temperature. With the duotemp, a sensitive push button switches the tool to full wave current: and the thermal capacity is immediately doubled. Through efficient thermal design, this additional power replenishes heat drains at the soldering face and allowed extended soldering sequences at safe soldering temperature.
